January's Goals

At the beginning of the month I decided to start making monthly goals. I kind of have ADD and get bored with things fast so having 30 day goals keeps me from forgetting about them. You can read what the goals were here.

1.) Blog More. Done! I've really enjoyed the outlet and also love when people tell me how much they are enjoying reading. Read about the milestone I reached here.

2.) Potting train Bug. Fail. The kids just not ready. Read about some of our adventures here

3.) Lose 8-10lbs. Drum roll please!! Since Jan 1st, I have lost a total of eleven pounds! WOO HOO!! {{Happy Dance!}} But I have been seriously kicking my own butt. Read about Slap Boxing With Tony Horton here. When Tony and I broke up, I turned to my elliptical {{Old Trusty}}, I've been walking with friends as often as possible and started doing my portion of a walk to Afghanistan, I completed 116 miles in the month of January. I also try and squeeze in some fitness-band work when I have two minutes here and there throughout the day. All of this, plus calorie counting on MFP, has led to my success this month. Let's talk numbers: my original weight when I joined MFP was 173. Minus this month's 11 pounds and I am currently at 162 {{yay I can do math!}}. My ultimate weight loss goal is 138 which means I still have 24 pounds to go.

4.) Days 1-30 of P90X. FAIL.

5.) Write a Business Plan for SBE. I haven't and I doubt I will. I am kind of at a fork in the road with it and am not sure which direction to go.

6.) Clean my office. Done!

7.) Date my husband. We actually did get one in. On his birthday we were able to get out for dinner and a movie. His birthday, his choice. We saw Mission Impossible 3 {{or was it 4?}} and it was surprisingly good and even though I hadn't seen the others, I was able to follow the story line. Also, we are planning a dinner date before he leaves.

8.) Take more pictures. According to my camera I have taken 343 pictures since the 3rd. I'm calling this a DONE!

9.)Planning a wine tasting party. The point of the party was to distract me from J's deployment. They changed his leave date three times and one of them was out into March. Due to that, I decided to pass this goal to February and make it happen sometime in the middle of March. {{But lets be honest, I dont really need a reason to drink wine. I'll drink it to pretty much anything ;o) }}

10.) Paint the LR. The crayoned walls in the LR have been painted over. I still need to do one wall and the accent wall. These will take me a day to do we just need more paint {{thank goodness its almost payday!}}

Now it's on to February. February is going to be a busy month, but I am looking forward to completing some new projects and getting in to a new hobby. Stay Tuned...

Workout Check In

I really enjoyed the first week of P90X {{despite elbowing myself in the face and crashing head first into the couch}}. So far, my favorite video is Cardio X. It's a lot of fun and it goes so fast that at the end you don't even know it has been an hour. All that being said, I haven't done a video since Wed of last week {{would have been day 10}}. This head/chest cold that has engulfed the entire house has totally knocked me out! Yesterday we had to take 2.0 to the ER to have her checked for RSV because she was so stuffed up she was snorting {{she is ok and they just told us to spray her nose then suck it out. Things she should hate but it must help because she just lets us do it.}}

The good news is that even though I haven't done P90X, I've had the worst case of the can't-sit-stills. I painted two walls in the living room on Wednesday. Rearranged our entire bedroom and closet on Thursday and then 2.0 and I got some major use out of the moby, running errands on Friday. Saturday we watched the first round of guys leave {{:( womp, womp}} which kicks off the beginning of this deployment. I was glad we were able to be there though. It was nice to support the guys leaving and to be there for a good friend. Am I sick? Definitely. Sitting on my butt? Not necessarily. Sunday it did all catch up with me and I spent a good amount of the chilly afternoon cuddled up with 2.0. I FINALLY felt better enough last night to get in some elliptical time. And this morning I got a nice long walk in with some of my neighbors.

I am hoping to pick P90X back up where I left off tomorrow. It is amazing how much better about myself I felt just after one week of doing something. Adding the workouts to what I was already doing {{using myfitnessplanner.com}} has really helped the scale go in the right direction. Also, Not only is the scale going down, I measured myself this morning and I have already gotten results!

I'll post both of those numbers at the end of the month {{haha! You MUST stay tuned!}}

2012

I don't make New Years Resolutions. I don't think I ever have. Resolutions are made and then forgotten about, usually, before the end of January. There are some things I want to accomplish this year so instead of calling them resolutions I'm going to call them goals. I'm also going to break them down throughout the months. Making them short term will mean they'll likely get reached instead of being forgotten about. Also, I'm limiting each month's goals to 10 to keep from feeling overwhelmed and at the end of each month I will do a post updating on my goals.

January 2012's Goals

1.) Blog more. Won't be that hard to accomplish this one, I don't think I posted at all in December.

2.) Potty train Bug. She is not even a little bit interested in "The Big Girl Potty". Any ideas? We had her in training pants & big girl-tinker bell undies last week and we'd sit her on the potty for 5-10 minutes only to have her get up and pee a couple of minutes later.

3.) Lose 8-10 pounds. I have GOT to get rid of this baby weight. I have been using myfitnessplanner.com for about two weeks now. Tracking my calories and activity level has been fun and its a free website that is similar to using WW. I have lost 3 pounds but I have a LONG ways to go before I'm where I want to be.

4.)Days 1-30 of P90X. It will help me accomplish goal #3.

5.) Write a business plan for SBE. I haven't done a darn thing for SB's since I had 2.0 and I feel like I've lost motivation to make the business happen. I had a pretty hard blow from a potential customer at the end of November. He called asked if I could do something custom for a cigar box he was making ((that would have been FRICKIN SWEET)) and when I gave him the price quote he gave me the old, "Let me talk to my wife..." and I haven't heard from him since. Jerk. Anyways, I let the fact that someone found no value in what I do get to me and between that and not being on the ball for Christmas last year ((hehe)) I am just feeling behind.

6.) Clean my office. It looks like a two year old has gone in there and thrown paperwork, boxes, supplies and stacks of bills everywhere. It's weird. Definitely not helping the business rut I feel in.

7.) Go on a few dates with my husband. J will be deploying soon and it would be nice to have some Us-time before he goes. I made an agreement with one of my awesome neighbors where I will babysit for them and she'll babysit for us. So hopefully we can take advantage of that and get some good date time in before her leaves.

8.) Take more pictures of the girls. Time is zooming by WAAAYYY too fast ((what happened to days that used to drag?)) & I want to remember everything.

9.) Start planning a wine-tasting party for the end of Feb. I've never had one and having it at the end of February will combine two of my favorite things ((wine & friends)) at a time when I will likely need the both of them the most.

10.) Paint the living room. While J has been on block leave we got the kitchen decorating done with a new backsplash & paint color. Bug helped us out in the decorating department by finding an orange crayon somewhere and adding a large piece of artwork to a wall in the living room ((isn't she helpful?)) I will pick a room a month to finish while J is gone. The LR would have been the first on my list but I guess there is no harm in starting a month early.

Alright, let's see how this goes.
